A-League: Western Sydney Wanderers get first win over Phoenix

Western Sydney Wanderers were finally able to celebrate their first win of the A-League season after stunning fourth-placed Wellington Phoenix 2-0.

The Wanderers had picked up just four points from their opening 13 games but they almost doubled that tally on Sunday thanks to Nikita Rukavytsya's 18th-minute opener and Brendon Santalab's 90th-minute clincher against Wellington.

The victory was not enough to lift the Wanderers off the foot of the table, but they are now just one point behind Newcastle Jets.

Wellington, meanwhile, missed the chance to move to within two points of stuttering leaders Perth Glory after suffering a second successive defeat -- having previously taken 19 points from a possible 21.
