George Bratton's goal two minutes into stoppage time saw Brisbane Roar clinch the Premiers Plate with a 1-0 win over second-placed Melbourne Victory.

Brattan fired in from the edge of the area just as it appeared time had run out on Roar's bid to wrap up the silverware on Saturday.

The win, their 15th from 24 games, lifted them 12 points clear of Victory. Earlier, Newcastle Jets hammered Wellington Phoenix 5-0, with four of the goals coming in the second half.

Emile Heskey's 35th-minute goal -- his first of the season -- was all that separated the teams at half-time, but after Joel Griffiths doubled the lead in the first minute of the second period, Adam Taggart added a brace before Michael Bridges finished it off in stoppage time.
