Berisha off as Brisbane Roar held

Brisbane Roar moved a step closer to securing the A-League's Premiers Plate as they registered a 1-1 draw at Sydney FC on Friday.

Besart Berisha headed the Roar in front after 23 minutes before Sydney's Sebastian Ryall headed a 35th-minute equaliser in his first game back from a lengthy injury.

Despite the result, the obvious talking point of the game was Berisha's 40th-minute red card. The striker was shown his marching orders after lunging into a tackle with Ryall. Berisha and seemed to come off second best as Ryall retaliated to the tackle, pushing him over.

After consulting his assistant, referee Peter O'Leary showed Berisha a straight red card to the complete disbelief of the Albanian.

The result leaves the Roar 11 points clear at the A-League summit with four games left to play before the playoffs.
