The Wanderers were knocked out of second position just 24 hours earlier as the Central Coast Mariners won the F3 derby against Newcastle.

But the home side regained second spot -- and again cut the lead to Brisbane Roar to five points -- with a dominant display against the Glory.

Brendon Santalab (28), Aaron Mooy (34) and a Mark Bridge penalty (71) saw Western Sydney take the points, with Glory's consolation coming from Shane Smeltz (57).

Earlier, Sydney FC thumped Melbourne Victory 5-0 as Alessandro del Piero scored twice (20 penalty and 54).

Sydney's other goals came from Ranko Despotovic (11), Sebastian Ryall (25) and Nick Carle (87).

Sydney move to fifth on the table, while the Victory, despite recording their second 5-0 loss in a row, remain in fourth spot.
