Melbourne Victory up to third after win

Melbourne Victory moved up to third place in the A-League table after beating Perth Glory 2-0 at home on Friday.

Guilherme Finkler
Guilherme Finkler scored Victory's second.

Adama Traore scored the opening goal after 36 minutes, but the visitors kept their chances of getting something from the game alive until the 89th minute, when substitute Guilherme Finkler struck.

The result means Perth are still without a win on their travels this season, while Victory put recent wastefulness in front of goal behind them.

Left-back Traore struck with a fine shot into the top corner to reward the hosts for a bright and purposeful start in which they had -- until then -- failed to make the most of their possession.

Mitch Nichols picked him out after a purposeful run, and the finish left Danny Vukovic helpless.

Perth rarely created much threat, and the game was put beyond them when Finkler found a way through Glory's defence and finished calmly past Vukovic.
