Besart Berisha at the double

Two goals from Besart Berisha helped Brisbane Roar to a 2-1 win at Adelaide United as the Queenslanders opened up a six-point gap at the top of the A-League on Friday.

Adelaide remain with just one win to their name this season despite a bright start, which resulted in a seventh-minute opener as defender Osama Malik nodded home a corner from close range.

Berisha levelled after 21 minutes, slotting home from the penalty spot after Tarek Elrich carelessly brought down Corey Brown, and the Albanian won it for the visitors with 17 minutes to go, bundling the ball home despite the close attentions of Tarek Malik and Jon McKain.

Third-from-bottom Adelaide are still two points ahead of Wellington Phoenix, however, after the New Zealanders went down 4-2 at Perth Glory.

The Phoenix led 2-1 after an hour, goals from Stein Huysegems and Paul Ifill cancelling out Sidnei's spectacular opener.

But Perth hit back, equalising through Michael Thwaite before late goals from Adrian Zahra and Sidnei settled it.
