Brisbane Roar claim sixth-straight win

Besart Berisha's second-half strike proved enough as Brisbane Roar maintained their three-point lead at the top of the A-League following a 1-0 victory over Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium.

The away side created a number of opportunities to score but were largely outplayed over the course of the match, with Brisbane enjoying the majority of possession and firing 22 shots on goal to the Glory's five.

And after 59 minutes, 28-year-old Albania international Berisha created some space for himself, collected the ball from Thomas Broich just outside the area and fired low into the far corner of the net to hand his side their sixth-straight victory

In Saturday's other game, Sydney FC kept the pressure on at the top as they recorded a 2-0 win over Newcastle Jets for their fourth victory on the bounce to remain second.

A goal in each half from Joel Chianese and Ranko Despotovic sealed the win but Sydney will be concerned after Alessandro Del Piero limped off just before the break with what appeared to be a hamstring strain.
