FFA chairman Steven Lowy has been on a collision course with A-League clubs for some time.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has shut down talks on a new A-League operating model in retaliation to the clubs' threats of legal action to force the governing body to reveal its finances.

Clubs were to set meet the FFA on Thursday to discuss the suggested new framework against the backdrop of a bitter fight over power and finances.

However, it's reported FFA chairman Steven Lowy pulled the plug on Wednesday and suspended correspondence indefinitely.

Melbourne City close in on James Troisi, sign Stefan Mauk

Melbourne City's Thomas Sorensen has revealed that lack of motivation and his health are the reasons behind his decision to retire.

Melbourne City have signed midfielder Stefan Mauk but are playing a waiting game on Socceroo James Troisi as the A-League club look to build a squad to challenge for the title.

A-League expansion criteria won't be confirmed for at least six months

A-League hopefuls, including South Melbourne, could be waiting until 2018 until they learn FFA's criteria to enter the competition.

A-League chief Greg O'Rourke, who visited the ex-NSL powerhouse on Wednesday ahead of their FFA Cup tie, confirmed the sport's governing body was prioritising talks on the league's operating model with current clubs.

FFA's latest meeting with representatives of the 10 A-League clubs will be held in Sydney on Thursday.

But in a frustrating slice of news for aspirant clubs...

Marcelo Carrusca has 'a couple of offers' from A-League clubs

Marcelo Carrusca celeb 20151211
Marcelo Carrusca made 144 appearances for Adelaide United, scoring 25 goals.

A-League champion Marcelo Carrusca might have been cut from Adelaide United's squad at season's end but that doesn't mean he will be lost from the competition.

The mercurial playmaker says he is mulling over "a couple of offers" to kick on with a sixth season in Australia.

And the 33-year-old is doing it as an Australian citizen.

Carrusca wasn't offered a new deal to stay at United after five seasons at Cooper's Stadium, three of which saw him voted into the A-League team of the season.

He claimed...
