Al Hassan Toure commits international future to Australia

Adelaide United's young gun Al Hassan Toure has pledged his football future to Australia.

The 19-year-old, who has shot to prominence in the FFA Cup and A-League this season, is understood to have opted for Australia over Liberia, the country where his parents were born.

He is expected to be included in the Olyroos under-23 squad, to be announced later this week, headed for China next week.

Toure, who was born in West Africa's Guinea, migrated to Australia with his parents when he was four.

Liberia's coach Peter Butler had contacted Adelaide United about a potential release of Toure during this month's nine-day FIFA international window.

But the goal-scoring attacker is understood to have elected to pursue an international career with Australia.

His future was a hot topic after his stunning emergence in Adelaide's FFA Cup campaign, capped by winning the Mark Viduka medal for best-afield in the cup final.

Toure made his Adelaide debut in the cup's opening round in August and scored five goals as the Reds' won consecutive cups. He also scored on A-League debut.
