Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa a doubt for Getafe game after knock

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa is a doubt for Saturday's home game against Getafe after picking up a knock in Wednesday's 4-0 Copa del Rey win at Lleida.

Costa, making his first Atletico appearance for three-and-a-half years after returning from Chelsea in a €62 million deal, struck within five minutes but took a knock while scoring.

There was no sign of any serious problem but a club statement on Thursday confirmed he was undergoing scans.

"Diego Costa has recovered well from the knock taken to his leg which caused him problems in his knee," the statement said.

"Today our forward worked in the gym with the rest of his teammates, taking part in a recovery session and afterwards undergoing some scans.

"His availability depends on how the recovery goes."

Meanwhile, left-back Filipe Luis has stepped up his recovery from a hamstring problem but is unlikely to be back in time for Saturday's game.

Midfielder Koke also missed the Lleida trip with an adductor problem, which is reported to be less serious.
