Atletico Madrid's Lucas Hernandez in UCL squad despite court date

Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez has been included in the squad for Tuesday's Champions League match at Bayer Leverkusen despite being due in court in Madrid on domestic abuse charges on the morning of the game.

Lucas, 20, was arrested when police were called to his home on Feb. 3, and prosecutors have asked for a seven-month prison sentence after an incident that saw his partner taken to hospital.

With fellow defenders Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez injured, Lucas has started Atletico's last two La Liga games.

He has been named by coach Diego Simeone in a 19-man squad for the game in Germany.

Gimenez is included as well, having been an unused substitute for the last two fixtures, as he recovers fitness following a hamstring strain suffered last month.

Goalkeeper Jan Oblak, who makes his return following two months out after a shoulder operation last December, is also in the squad.

"Jan Oblak has been given the all-clear this Sunday after morning training," an Atletico statement said.

"Since last Wednesday, the Slovenian has trained normally with the group."

Simeone has not yet confirmed whether Oblak will come straight into the starting lineup, with Atletico also facing a La Liga clash at home to Barcelona next Sunday.

Midfielders Augusto Fernandez and Tiago Mendes and defenders Godin and Juanfran are all still injured.
