Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone: I am always ready for changes in life

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has told Marca he is always "ready for changes" in life but added that he had not started planning his next career move.

Last summer, Simeone agreed to cut two years off his current contract, which now runs until summer 2018, intensifying speculation over what his future plans might be.

The former Atletico midfielder said his philosophy was to focus on the present while being ready for new challenges as they arose.

"It is better to prepare for the present," he said. "That is the best road to progress.

"In the future there will be new things, and we must be ready for when they arrive. But not leaving aside the present makes you strong and secure, knowing that we must all innovate.

"It is a challenge for all of us, for new things to come, and make us stronger. You have to be ready for changes."

Chelsea and Arsenal are reported to have previously considered Simeone as a potential boss, but he is thought more likely to opt for Italy if he decides to leave Atletico.

He has also expressed interest in taking the Argentina national team job in future.
