Antoine Griezmann has 'no intention' of leaving Atletico Madrid this summer

Antoine Griezmann said he has no plans to leave Atletico Madrid and is fully focused on helping his team advance in the Champions League and then playing for France at Euro 2016 this summer.

Atleti host PSV Eindhoven in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie on March 15, after drawing 0-0 in the first leg in the Netherlands.

Griezmann, 24, told Radio Monte Carlo he has "no intention of leaving Atletico" and was non-committal about what might happen in the future amid links to some of Europe's top clubs in recent months.

"Maybe," Griezmann said. "You never know in football but right now I'm not thinking that far ahead."

Griezmann, 24, said in February that his representatives were holding talks with Atleti to extend his contract and increase his release clause. The France international's current deal runs until 2020 and includes an €80 million release clause, but reports in Spain last month said the club planned to increase that to €100m and offer him a pay rise.

In the meantime, the striker said he is happy at Alteti and enjoys playing for manager Diego Simeone.

"He lets me play with a lot of freedom, even when I have to drop back and help the defence," Griezmann said of the Argentine coach. "It requires a great effort from every member of the team and we need to put in a lot of intensity in our training sessions.

"Preparing properly in July and August is also very important. Our strength lies in the power of the team. Physically, we are ending games better now than we were before and that's all down to the hard work we have done in advance.

"And I have learned a lot from [Simeone] in terms of tactics -- both defensively and in attack. I've learned a lot and I hope to continue learning more."

Griezmann has vowed to keep building on his 2014-15 success, when he scored 25 goals in all competitions. So far in 2015-16, he has scored 22 times in all competitions.

"I always try to be better than the year before. In my first season at Atletico I scored 25 goals and I hope to improve on those numbers this season," he said.

"Now my game is more complete than it was before; for example, during the Valencia game at Mestalla, I intentionally went looking for the ball to start moves from a deeper position. Doing that gave me extra confidence."
