Atletico star Antoine Griezmann 'can never celebrate' goal vs. Real Sociedad

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann refused to revel in his stunning solo strike against Real Sociedad as he will "never celebrate a goal against the club that gave me everything."

Griezmann, 24, continued his impressive goal scoring form with a fine effort during Sunday's 2-0 win at La Real, which saw the France international dribble from the halfway line past four defenders before chipping over goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli nine minutes in.

The forward showed little emotion following the goal and was afforded a standing ovation from the home crowd after being substituted with three minutes left, acknowledging Sociedad's impact on his career following the win.

"I can never celebrate a goal against the club that gave me everything," he told reporters, having scored 46 goals in 179 games for La Real before joining Atletico in 2014.

Atletico substitute Yannick Ferreira Carrasco sealed the points by netting in injury time, moments after Diego Reyes had been sent off for the hosts, and then striker Jonathas de Jesus was also dismissed after Atletico's second.

Griezmann expected Los Rojiblancos would face a tough test on his former home ground, saying: "We knew it would be a difficult game because they are strong at the Anoeta. We knew we would have few chances to score and that we would have to take them when they arrived."

Atletico face Astana in the Champions League on Wednesday but Griezmann is looking forward to the steady run of games, adding: "Every player wants to play a match every three days because that's good -- it means that you play European competitions."

The 2-0 defeat puts more pressure on under-fire Sociedad boss David Moyes following a poor start to the season, with the former Manchester United boss criticised by sections of the home crowd on Sunday amid reports he could replace Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa.
