New Atletico Madrid forward Alessio Cerci believes his style of play is suited to La Liga and he aims to now win some trophies with his new club.
Cerci, 27, arrived at the reigning Spanish champions for an undisclosed fee believed to be around 16 million euros on the final day of the summer transfer window last Monday.
The Italy international, who was a reported target for Arsenal, told reporters at his official presentation at the Estadio Vicente Calderon that the "technical" style of the Spanish game would suit him, and he was looking forward to a new adventure under Colchoneros coach Diego Simeone.
"For sure it is a more technical type of football, which will suit my qualities very well," Cerci said. "I believe I will be like a fish in the water.
"I want to go along step by step, without setting objectives, but wanting a lot to win some trophies through hard work.
"It has always been a dream to play for a club like Atletico Madrid. The first impressions are very good, it is a great group supported by a great coach. I am very much looking forward to this new adventure."
Cerci, who will now battle for a first team spot up front with fellow new arrivals Mario Mandzukic, Raul Jimenez and Antoine Griezmann, said he was a versatile player who could perform in a number of different attacking positions.
"I prefer to play up front and to the right, that is where I am at my best," he added. "I can be a provider or a finisher. In recent seasons I have played across the attack, I do not mind where."
Cerci could now make his debut in Atletico's next La Liga match -- away at neighbours Real Madrid on Saturday Sept. 13.
The new Rojiblancos man said he had no issues fitting with the demands for hard work and defensive contribution which Simeone asks of every player.
"At Torino we were a very compact team," he said. "So I am used to working for the team and sacrificing myself to win the ball back."
