Moya ready to impress at Atletico

Miguel Moya appears to be joining Atletico as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois.

New Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Miguel Moya is hoping to make his mark after completing his move from Getafe.

At his official presentation with the Spanish champions on Thursday, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo said he hoped the 30-year-old would become an important part of the team.

"Moya will integrate quickly with our group," he said in quotes reported by Marca. "We are counting on him and are sure he won't let us down. We are sure he will help us win new titles."

It remains unclear whether Thibaut Courtois, who has been on loan at Atletico since 2011, will return to parent club Chelsea next season.

Asked about the Belgium international, Moya said: "At the moment, I am the only 'tenant' of the goal, but we'll see what happens once the competition comes in. Atleti have top players at all positions."

He said he was "excited and hopeful" about the chance to represent Atletico, who also reached this season's Champions League final.

"I can't wait to start," he said. "Last year there were rumours about me but it came to pass this year -- things happen when they are meant to happen."

He added: "When you become a football player you dream about playing for a club like this one."

Moya, who said he is yet to speak to Atletico coach Diego Simeone, also stressed that he has recovered from the knee surgery that ended his season in March.

"The injury is forgotten," he said. "It has healed very well. I will be at 100 percent for the preseason."
