Spurs' Josh Onomah finding his feet at Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Josh Onomah has made a positive early impression after moving to Aston Villa on loan, with his new coach Steve Bruce tipping him to be a big success.

The Anglo-Nigerian midfielder opened his Villa account as the Midlanders secured a 1-1 draw at Bristol City on Friday evening, and has adapted quickly to life in the Championship.

"I was delighted for Josh," Bruce told Aston Villa's official website after the match. "He's walked in the door and he's had a run of games in a matter of weeks.

"It's great experience for him and he will have enjoyed the goal today in front of the Villa supporters," Bruce continued. "He's going to be a very good player."

Bristol City took the lead in the 60th minute of Friday evening's Championship showdown at Ashton Gate through Jamie Paterson, but Villa responded almost immediately.

Onomah, taking a chance from 25 yards out, struck a thunderous effort which deflected off midfielder Marlon Pack and past Robins keeper Frank Fielding.

The outing was the 20-year-old's fifth of the new campaign having joined from Spurs at the beginning of the month.

Onomah's goal was the highlight of a fine display in which the midfielder made as many touches as any other Villa player, made a game-high four dribbles and also completed five tackles - more than any other player on the park.

Eligible for Nigeria, the youngster impressed for England during the U-20 World Cup triumph during the summer and was named in the Three Lions' U-21 squad for the upcoming U-21 Euro qualifiers.
