Remi Garde says Aston Villa job 'a trap' but would return to England

Former Aston Villa boss Remi Garde has described the job as "a trap" that he "didn't manage to work out" before taking it, but told TF1 he still wants to work in England again.

Garde, 50, spent less than five months in the Villa hotseat after taking over from Tim Sherwood in early November.

He left by mutual consent in late March as the club slid to relegation from the Premier League.

The former Lyon manager said: "I'll return to England to coach under better conditions than at Aston Villa.

"Yes, it looked like a trap. I didn't manage to work that out before I accepted the job.

"I was too enthusiastic -- it will serve as a lesson to me."

But he said the experience had not put him off coaching in England.

"You know that I really like the country. I played there a little bit," Garde, who ended his career at Arsenal in 1999 after three years in London, added.
