Roma's Francesco Totti: Plenty of time to think about future once season over

Roma striker Francesco Totti has not clarified whether he intends to retire from playing at the end of the season, saying there will be "time to talk about it" once the campaign has ended.

Totti, 40, is out of contract in the summer and new Roma sporting director Monchi said last week that he would not be offered a new playing deal.

But the Roma captain has yet to announce officially whether or not he will retire and, asked by fans at a charity event whether his final game will be on May 28, he replied: "I don't know."

Writing on Twitter later, he said: "Today I replied with a remark to the latest question regarding my future.

"All I know is that Juve come to Roma on Sunday and I am only thinking about that because we are fighting right to the end of the season and Roma comes before everything.

"The rest will come after and there will be time to talk about it."

Monchi said Totti has a six-year contract as a director awaiting his signature, and La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the forward appeared to be warming to that idea.

In Roma's 4-1 win over AC Milan at the weekend, coach Luciano Spalletti sent Bruno Peres rather than Totti when Edin Dzeko was injured.

Even Milan fans had been calling for Totti to be given one last chance to play at the San Siro, but Spalletti defended his decision at a postmatch news conference.
