Roma's Edin Dzeko ruled out of Juventus clash with a calf injury

Edin Dzeko will miss Roma's Serie A clash with Juventus on Sunday due to a calf strain, the capital club have confirmed.

Dzeko -- Serie A's top scorer this season with 27 goals -- picked up the injury after scoring a brace in Roma's 4-1 win at AC Milan last Sunday.

"Edin Dzeko underwent medical tests today which revealed a minor calf strain in his left leg," read a medical bulletin on Roma's official website. "The Bosnian striker, Roma's top scorer this season with 37 goals, is expected to be out of action for around 10 days."

The injury is a setback to the player and his club, who must beat Juve to stand any chance of catching them at the top of the standings. They are currently seven points behind the league leaders with three games of the season left.

A draw or a win for the Turin-based club would seal their sixth straight Serie A title with two games to spare.

Roma are also trying to hold off the challenge of Napoli to secure an automatic group-stage berth in the Champions League next season by finishing second. Napoli are just a point behind Roma heading into the final three games of the season.

Dzeko has two more goals to his name than Torino's Andrea Belotti in the race for the Capocannoniere award for the league's top scorer. Napoli's Dries Mertens, Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi and last season's top scorer, Juventus' Gonzalo Higuain, are one goal further behind on 24.

Dzeko should return from injury for Roma's final two games of the campaign against Chievo and Genoa.
