Roma's Francesco Totti, Luciano Spalletti put bust-up in past

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti and captain Francesco Totti have made peace after their alleged bust-up at the weekend, with the pair given a mock award by television channel Canale 5 for their behaviour.

Spalletti firmly denied reports there was "an argument or worse still a physical fight" in the dressing room after Sunday's 3-3 draw with Atalanta, but his postmatch comments were critical of the 39-year-old, whose contract is up for renewal at the end of the season.

After Roma's own TV channel showed the pair smiling together on the training field on Monday, Canale 5 asked the pair about Sunday's events.

"It's all fine. We're going for dinner together tonight," Totti said. "He's a fantastic person. You forget the past. Nothing ever happened between us. I still have a lot to give Roma, but it doesn't depend on me."

Spalletti explained why he had been angry in the first place, having admitted that he did reprimand some of his players on their way back into the dressing room.

"I was angry with him because in 15 minutes he could have scored two, but he only got one," the 57-year-old said. "I think Francesco's going to stay for another six, seven, 10 years."

Totti scored Roma's equaliser five minutes from time, earning them a point that saw them move five points behind second-placed Napoli.

He had come on 18 minutes from the end for Daniele De Rossi to make only his eighth appearance in Serie A this season.

Roma president James Pallotta, who was recently filmed suggesting Totti should retire, has played down the whole affair.

"What happened on Sunday happens in every dressing room. It's not a big issue for me," he told Il Corriere dello Sport. "In fact, it's not an issue at all. I'm not talking to anybody about the things I say to Francesco, other than Francesco."
