James Pallotta denies Roma sale speculation

Roma president James Pallotta has rubbished speculation he is looking to sell the Serie A club, saying they are "stuck with me."

Italian investigative website dagospia.com reported that Pallotta was looking for a buyer, explaining that as one of the reasons why he is spending so much of his time in the United States and dedicating little time to the Eternal City.

However, Pallotta told La Repubblica: "That's insane, you're stuck with me. You are a safe bet with me."

Roma's general manager Mauro Baldissoni, who spent last week with Pallotta in Miami as they arranged the appointment of new coach Luciano Spalletti, was equally dismissive of the report.

"There's very little truth in it," he said. "Bearing in mind that I am not the owner of Roma, so it is not my position to know about it, all I can say is that from the daily discussions I have with Pallotta, there is very little credibility to these rumours, considering that we are planning projects from now for the next 20 years."

Spalletti said he also sensed Pallotta's dedication to the club, saying at his first news conference since returning to the club that he "has an unbounded passion for this club, and I could see that in how he would walk around his house wearing a Giallorossa shirt."

Pallotta became president of Roma in August 2012 and has overseen their return to the Champions League, thanks to two second-place finishes in Serie A.

He has drawn criticism from the club's fans this season after he labelled those responsible for earning the club a partial stadium closure as "idiots" in April.

Many Giallorossi fans have been boycotting the club's games out of protest at new security measures imposed on the Curva Sud, which they feel Pallotta has done little to prevent.
