Roma's Alessandro Florenzi may move from full-back to attack vs. BATE

Alessandro Florenzi -- who scored a stunning long-range strike as a full-back against Barcelona a fortnight ago -- could be moved into attack for Roma's Champions League game against BATE Borisov on Tuesday due to the Italian club's injury troubles.

With Edin Dzeko and Francesco Totti both sidelined, coach Rudi Garcia has just Gervinho and Mohamed Salah available up front.

He is therefore considering moving Florenzi from the full-back role he has been occupying this season to the opposite end of the pitch.

"We might change our tactics, but Florenzi could also move into the attack, considering we've got both Maicon and [Vasilis] Torosidis available at full-back," Garcia said at a news conference in Belarus.

In view of Florenzi's goal against Barcelona in Roma's first Champions League fixture this season, Garcia would have no qualms about fielding the 24-year-old in an advanced position.

Florenzi scored five goals in 35 Serie A appearances last season, predominantly from a position on the wing. Shortages in defence led to him being switched to full-back at the start of the season and he has performed so well there that Maicon has had to spend time on the bench.

Garcia has taken just 16 players with him to Belarus, plus Iago Falque, whose name is not officially among those called up for the game but who might yet play a part.

"We need to see how he is tomorrow," Garcia said. "Every hour is important for his recovery. I'm not going to have a big squad tomorrow, but that will just make us even more united and resolute to face up to the lack of numbers."

The match is Garcia's 100th as Roma boss, but the Frenchman said: "I didn't even know it was my 100th game for the Giallorossi.

"All I'm thinking about is the present -- not the past or the future. I wouldn't even be able to tell you what our next seven games are because I'm only thinking about this one.

"I'm proud to be coaching this team. I'm very satisfied with our last win [over Carpi] because what matters is winning and starting a winning streak. The Champions League is a mini-championship where you need to get your results consistently, and we've made a good start."
