Roma coach Rudi Garcia has signed a three-year contract extension with the club. - De Martinis: Benatia talk disrespectful to Roma Garcia has been rewarded for his impressive work since arriving at the Giallorossi from Lille on an original two-year deal last summer. In his debut season at the club the Frenchman managed to guide a side that finished sixth the year before up to second in the Serie A table, amassing an extra 23 points in the process. Roma made the announcement via an official statement on Friday, with club president James Pallotta expressing his delight at the news. He said: "I am pleased to announce that Rudi Garcia and Roma have agreed to a three-year extension beyond his original contract. As I have said many times in the past, after I spent the first 30 minutes with Rudi in New York City last year, I knew he would be the right choice to lead Roma for hopefully a long time. "This extension is an integral part of our plan to bring continuity to our overall operational success. Roma ownership and management have been on the same page in regard to how to build a world-class football team. This is one more step in accomplishing our long-term vision. "We are only at the beginning of our and Roma fans' journey and we once again thank Rudi, his staff and all of Roma for a wonderful start to what I hope will be a great future for our fans worldwide. "Forza Roma!" Garcia made a name for himself at Lille, where he guided the French club to both the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France in 2011. The 50-year-old has also previously taken charge of l'ASCE, St Etienne, Dijon and Le Mans.
