Pjanic denies Barcelona talk

Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic has calmed talk of a move to Barcelona, following reports claiming the Spanish club had spoken to the Giallorossi about his availability.

Pjanic, 22, was reported to have spoke on Tuesday of his pride in being linked with the Catalan giants, while admitting he was aware they had sent scouts to assess his performances in recent weeks.

“It’s true Barcelona are tracking me and enquired about my situation with my club,” he told EFE. “They were watching me during the game with Fiorentina but it is Roma who have to decide as the clubs must deal with these matters. In any case, it is clear that Barcelona are a team everyone would like to play for and it is an honour that they are interested in me.”

However, the Bosnia international has now denied speaking to journalists, instead committing his future to Roma, for whom he has been a first-team regular since leaving Lyon in 2011.

“I respect Barcelona, but my team is Roma and I'm happy where I am,” he told ANSA. “I've not spoken with any journalists. I have two and a half years on my contract and I've never thought about leaving.''
