Thierry Henry signs three-year deal to coach Monaco - sources

Thierry Henry is the new manager of Monaco, sources have told ESPN FC.

The 2016-17 Ligue 1 champions sacked Leonardo Jardim earlier this week, with Henry, 41, tipped as the frontrunner to replace him. And sources confirmed on Friday that the former Arsenal and Barcelona star has signed a three-year deal with the principality club.

The move is set to be made official on Sunday, with Henry, who is already working on his staff, presented the following day, the sources indicate. He is expected to travel to Monaco on Saturday.

Henry, who started his career at Monaco and won the Ligue 1 title in 1997, had been serving as an assistant to Roberto Martinez at Belgium and was on the bench for Friday's 2-1 UEFA Nations League victory over Switzerland.

He had previously been linked with the job at Aston Villa, who named Dean Smith as boss on Thursday.
