Monaco's Radamel Falcao poised to return to action after thigh injury

Monaco captain Radamel Falcao has said he is "almost ready" to return to competitive action after recovering from the thigh injury that has sidelined him for almost a month.

Colombia international striker Falcao limped out of the French champions' win over Lyon earlier this month.

"I'm a lot better, I'm almost ready to get back into competitive action," he told RMC at the Laureus World Sport Awards in Monaco.

"I hope to return to full training this week, and perhaps I'll be able to play this weekend."

Falcao's teammates have held second place in Ligue 1 without him and are two points clear of third-placed Marseille, with only the top two certain to qualify for next season's Champions League group stage.

Monaco face Bordeaux at home on Friday and the return of their leading scorer, who has 17 goals in 20 league games, is timely as the race for second intensifies.

Leonardo Jardim's men are 14 points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who they beat to the title last season.
