Dimitar Berbatov pens new Monaco deal

Dimitar Berbatov has signed a one-year contract extension with Monaco, keeping him at the club until June 2015.

Berbatov, 33, joined the Ligue 1 side from Fulham in January in a six-month deal until the end of the season.

And after impressing with nine goals in 14 matches since then, Monaco have decided to secure his services for the 2014-15 campaign.

"AS Monaco is delighted to announce the club has agreed a one-year contract extension with Dimitar Berbatov," an official club statement read.

"Berbatov is now tied to AS Monaco until June 2015."

Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev has been thrilled with how the striker has performed for the club and is looking forward to seeing more of him next term.

"With AS Monaco, Dimitar showed all of his talent," he said. "He is a great player and we are very proud to have him for the next season."

Berbatov himself was equally delighted to commit his future to Monaco, saying: "I feel at home here. It's going to be an interesting season!"
