Arsene Wenger: I will only consider short-term project in my next job

Arsene Wenger is looking for more of a short-term project for his next job, he told RMC Sport.

Wenger, whose 22-year tenure coaching Arsenal ended with a win at Huddersfield Town on Sunday, will start considering job offers in the coming weeks after having said he has no plans to retire.

But after becoming Europe's longest-serving manager at Arsenal and overseeing long-term projects such as the move to Emirates Stadium, Wenger, 68, made it clear he will only consider clubs that are ready to challenge right away.

"[I would take] a project that is solid, which makes sense, which has the means to fulfil its ambitions too, because, well ... at my age, I can't work over 20 years," Wenger said. "So a project that is achievable in the short term, but which makes sense long-term."

Wenger has said he already received a number of job offers but would not talk to any potential suitors until after the season ended. He also said he is open to managing a top European club but has not ruled out a director's role either, with sources telling ESPN FC that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in making him part of the club hierarchy.

But one thing he has seemingly ruled out is taking over another English team. At his final news conference after the 1-0 win over Huddersfield, he said he couldn't imagine facing Arsenal as a manager of the opposing team.

"I think I'm not ready for that at the moment. That would be very difficult. I think on that day, I would stay at home," he said. "Yes, I had offers. But at the moment I did not even speak to anybody. I had many offers but I come out of such a long process. You can't come out and the next morning say I go somewhere else. It's impossible."
