Petr Cech takes responsibility for both goals in Arsenal loss to Brighton

Petr Cech took responsibility for Arsenal's 2-1 loss to Brighton on Sunday by admitting on Twitter that he was at fault for both first-half goals.

Arsenal's season fell to a new low with a fourth straight defeat in all competitions, which also left them 13 points outside the Premier League's top four with just nine games to play.

Lewis Dunk put Brighton ahead after just seven minutes when Cech failed to punch away a corner, and the veteran goalkeeper was then easily beaten by Glen Murray's header in the 26th minute.

A number of Arsenal players could be singled out for poor defending in the lead-up to the second goal, but Cech was quick to take full responsibility.

"If you want to win a game away of home in the best league in the world your GK can't concede 2 goals like I did today ... it's simply not possible ... The team fought back but the damage was done," Cech wrote on Twitter just minutes after the final whistle.

It was the 11th Premier League game in a row without a clean sheet for Cech, leaving him stuck on 199.
