Arsenal considering move for PSG's Lucas Moura - sources

Arsenal are weighing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura before the close of the transfer window, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Lucas is keen to leave PSG in search of regular first-team football this month and the Ligue 1 leaders are open to letting the Brazilian move on.

Lucas has made only six appearances for PSG this season, having dropped down the pecking order following the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at the Parc des Princes last summer.

After last weekend's win at Nantes, Lucas said that PSG boss Unai Emery has made it clear to him that he does not feature in his plans moving forward.

"Is there a chance that I stay this winter? I do not think so," Lucas said. "With what the coach has said, it looks like this is the end of my Paris story.

"I have offers but I cannot talk about them. I like English football very much, it is truly one of the best leagues in the world."

A number of clubs across Europe, including Tottenham and Manchester United have been credited with an interest in Lucas, but with United closing in on Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal and Tottenham pursuing a move for Bordeaux's Malcom, both clubs are unlikely to pursue their interest in Lucas.

That could open the way for Arsenal to make a move for the Brazil international, with the 25-year-old keen on a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal were also reportedly interested in Bordeaux's Malcom, but with Tottenham now favourites for his signature the Gunners could switch their attentions.

Lucas could help fill a void in the right side of Arsenal's midfield after they sold Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool in the summer and Theo Walcott to Everton this month.

Arsenal would prefer a loan deal with a view to a permanent move for Lucas, while PSG hope to recoup some money by selling the Brazilian on a permanent basis.
