Granit Xhaka: Comeback wins 'show the character of Arsenal team'

Granit Xhaka says Arsenal have showed their true character by coming from a goal down in each of their last three games.

Xhaka was among the Arsenal players who were criticised after the 2-1 loss at Watford, when Troy Deeney questioned the team's "cojones."

But Xhaka said the Gunners' spirit was on display in their 2-1 win over Swansea on Saturday, when they fought back after an early deficit -- just as they did at Everton last weekend and against Norwich in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

"Lots of people talk about the character of our team, that it's not right and that we need to do more," Xhaka told the Arsenal website. "But we always show that we can come back. [Against Swansea] we were 1-0 down, last week we were 1-0 down, but we turned the games around and that shows the character of this team."

Sead Kolasinac was influential against Swansea scoring one goal and setting up another as the defender turned wing-back once again showed he can be a threat going forward.

Kolasinac, who joined on a free transfer from Schalke in the summer, also scored equalisers against Chelsea in the Community Shield and Cologne in the Europa League and has racked up three assists in the Premier League so far.

"We know that Seo has so much quality in attack, just as he does defensively," Xhaka said.

"His goal and assist were crucial for the team and we hope he continues to perform like that. ... That he's that dangerous in front of goal, we didn't see so often in Germany! But it's going well here in England and we're pleased to have him."

Arsenal's other new signing, Alexandre Lacazette failed to score, but Mesut Ozil still hopes the France international can replicate the success of Karim Benzema, whom Ozil played alongside at Real Madrid.

"He's a different player. I hope he has as much success as Benzema," Ozil told SFR Sport. "He has his feet on the ground and works hard. I hope he'll score as many goals for the French national team as Benzema."
