No Arsenal approach for Borussia Dortmund's Thomas Tuchel - sources

Now in sixth after a loss at West Brom, the FC crew have doubts about Arsenal's chances for a top-four finish.

Arsenal have not approached Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel about replacing Arsene Wenger, sources have told ESPN FC.

German newspaper Bild reported late on Sunday that Tuchel has been contacted by Arsenal as they prepare for the possibility that Wenger could leave the club at the end of the season.

However, Arsenal sources said on Monday that the report was "not true."

Tuchel has often been mentioned as a candidate to replace Wenger, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Thomas Tuchel has been linked with the Arsenal job.

Wenger said on Saturday that "I know what I will do in my future" and that he will announce his decision "very soon."

However, a club source told ESPN FC that Wenger's previous timeline of making a decision in late-March or April is still intact.

Wenger is expected to discuss the situation with the club board soon, possibly during the current international break, before any announcement is made.

Arsenal are in one of their worst slumps of Wenger's reign, having lost four of their last five Premier League games, leaving them in sixth place and six points off the top four.

They were also beaten 10-2 on aggregate by Bayern Munich in the Champions League earlier this month, fuelling fan protests from supporters calling for Wenger to step down.
