Mesut Ozil retains Arsenal place for UCL game against Bayern Munich

Mesut Ozil has kept his place in the Arsenal side for Wednesday's Champions League game against Bayern Munich, despite reports suggesting Arsene Wenger was set to drop him.

Wenger admitted at the weekend that Ozil was lacking confidence, with the Germany international having failed to score for Arsenal since early December.

That prompted speculation Ozil could be relegated to the substitutes' bench for the round-of-16 first leg against Bayern at the Allianz Arena, but Wenger has opted to keep faith in him.

Wenger has made two changes from the side that beat Hull City 2-0 on Saturday with Granit Xhaka replacing Theo Walcott following the midfielder's return from suspension, while Arsenal's cup goalkeeper David Ospina has come in for Petr Cech.

Bayern, meanwhile, make two changes from the side that beat Ingolstadt at the weekend, with Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa coming in for Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Muller.
