Mesut Ozil enjoying life at Arsenal, in no rush to sign a new contract

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil insists that he is "very happy" at the Emirates, but is in no rush to renew his current contract.

The World Cup winner, who leads the Premier League assist charts with 15 from 16 games, has an existing deal that lasts until June 2018 and is not looking to begin talks about extending the contract any time soon.

"There is no rush to sign a new contract," Ozil told kicker in an interview published before Monday night's 2-1 home win over Manchester City that keeps the Gunners within two points of Premier League leaders Leicester City.

"My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment.

"I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one.

"There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here."

Ozil's third season in the Premier League has been his most productive, and with perennial favourites Chelsea and Manchester United struggling in the competition, the German could be on course to win the title if the Gunners can sustain their form.
