Arsenal not considering Champions League elimination - Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil admits Arsenal can leave nothing on the pitch in Greece on Wednesday as their Champions League progression goes down to the wire.

The Gunners will continue in European competition after Christmas but Wednesday's result in Olympiakos will determine just how seriously Arsene Wenger takes their continental campaign.

A victory in Greece by two or more goals will see the Gunners squeak through Group F by the skin of their teeth -- but if they do not get the required result they will drop into the Europa League.

A 3-2 defeat to Wednesday's opponents at the Emirates Stadium in September was followed a shock opening loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the opening round of matches.

That put Arsenal on the back foot and, with a 5-1 thrashing in Bayern Munich sandwiched between two Group F victories, they now go to the Karaiskakis Stadium with something to play for.

With the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla missing through injury, Ozil will be relied upon once more to add to his impressive number of assists this season.

The German World Cup winner has also started adding goals to his game and has found the back of the net in two of Arsenal's last three Champions League ties in what he has called his "strongest season" in north London to date.

Now they must go to Piraeus and leave with a positive result -- and the 27-year-old knows Arsenal are up against it but is not contemplating elimination.

"It will be very hard," he said.

"Olympiakos can play good football and we saw that at Emirates Stadium. They want to play on the counterattack but we can't concede goals like we did before again.

"The fans will be behind them and our goal is to beat them. It's achievable to win there by two goals and that's what we want to do. We have to really give everything so that we can achieve this and get through to the next round.

"We're not looking at that [getting knocked out].

"We have the quality to beat them and our goal is not to think about going out of the competition. We want to win this game and get through to the next round.

"We want to win this game with the two goals in our favour. We have to be good in defence. If they score a goal then we have to score three goals, but we know that we can score goals. We know that we have a lot of quality up front, but our goal is to go into half-time ahead and then we will know that everything is possible. We have to also be careful in defence that we don't concede a goal."

Olympiakos have won the last three meetings in Greece in games which, like this one, come at the end of the group campaign.

The difference is Arsenal had already qualified for the knockout rounds on those previous visits and Wenger knows the stakes are higher this time around.

"I have been to Olympiakos before having already qualified," he said.

"This time we go having to qualify. It's tough but we have to believe we can do it, and I believe we can do it. We have a chance to make right what we haven't done right until now.

"How big the chance is I don't know, but we can do it. We need to win. One advantage is that the task is very clear."

Arsenal's task in Greece has been made all the more difficult with their lengthy injury-list, but if they can head home still in the Champions League on Wednesday night they will have deserved their place in the draw on December 14.
