Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger praises 'very mature' Theo Walcott

Theo Walcott has matured and become a man at Arsenal, according to his manager Arsene Wenger.

Walcott, 26, joined the club as a 16-year-old for around £12 million from Southampton and has since become a full international with England as well as making over 200 appearances in the Premier League.

The winger has suffered from long spells out with injury -- including missing a large chunk of last season -- but signed a new long-term contract at the Emirates in July to commit his future to the club.

And for Wenger, the man who has helped him develop, Walcott was a great signing for Arsenal.

"He has become very mature, he has gone through difficult periods so he is a very strong man," Wenger told Arsenal Player. "He is a man today, when he arrived here he was a boy, a little boy who discovered a world where he did not know anything about it.

"Of course he had to go through bad injuries and disappointments and I believe he is a man today, a man who knows what he wants and has been faithful to our club. It was a great signing."
