Olivier Giroud signs new Arsenal deal until 2018 - sources

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2018, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.

Giroud agreed the deal at the end of last season but has now put pen to paper to end any lingering speculation over his future.

The 28-year-old has established himself as a key member of the Arsenal side since joining the club from Montpellier in 2012.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has always been a big supporter of Giroud, who remains a key part of his long-term plans at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger is in the market for a new striker, with Lukas Podolski having left for Galatasaray and Yaya Sanogo out on loan at Ajax.

Giroud has welcome the prospect of increased competition, telling reporters last week: "If there is a new striker it will be nice for all the team, because competition is good for everyone.

He has netted 41 Premier League goals in 97 games since arriving in north London.
