Arsenal's Jack Wilshere fined £40k by FA for anti-Tottenham chants

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been fined £40,000 by the Football Association and warned as to his future conduct following his anti-Tottenham chants during the FA Cup victory parade last month.

Wilshere, 23, who came through the youth ranks at Arsenal, took to the microphone to mock the Gunners' North London rivals as the players celebrated on a stage outside Emirates Stadium following the 4-0 final victory over Aston Villa.

Wilshere then proceeded to lead the massed ranks of Arsenal fans in a chant which included expletives against Spurs, who again finished below their rivals in the Premier League table.

Wilshere, who apologised on Twitter for his actions, accepted a charge of misconduct last week and the FA confirmed the midfielder's punishment via a statement on Wednesday.

"Arsenal's Jack Wilshere has been fined £40,000 and severely warned as to his future conduct after admitting to a charge of misconduct," the statement read.

"Wilshere was found guilty of making and/or inciting certain comments during the club's open bus trophy tour after their FA Cup Final victory, with his conduct deemed to be improper and bringing the game into disrepute."

Wilshere was warned about his future conduct after similar scenes 12 months ago following Arsenal's 2014 FA Cup final victory over Hull City.
