Arsenal winger Ainsley Maitland-Niles set to join Ipswich on loan - sources

Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles is poised to join Ipswich Town on loan, sources have told ESPN FC.

Maitland-Niles, 17, is highly-rated at Arsenal after breaking into the first-team last season.

The midfielder made his first-team debut as a substitute in the Champions League win against Galatasaray in Turkey last December to become the club's second youngest ever player in the Champions League behind Jack Wilshere.

Maitland-Niles also made two substitute appearances against Newcastle in the Premier League and in the FA Cup win over Hull City.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the England under-18 international and feels the teenager would benefit from a loan move next season so that he can gain valuable first-team experience.

A number of Championship clubs have sounded out Arsenal about a loan move for the skilful winger, but Ipswich are in pole position to land him as boss Mick McCarthy is keen to add pace to his side before he mounts another bid for promotion to the Premier League.
