Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez wins PFA Fans' Player of the Season award

Alexis Sanchez has been named the PFA Fans' Player of the Season after an impressive first year with Arsenal.

Sanchez, 26, arrived at the Emirates Stadium last summer, with the Gunners forking out a reported £35 million to sign him from Barcelona.

The Chile international has quickly gone about repaying that fee, scoring 16 goals and providing eight more in his first Premier League season.

His performances saw him last month make the six-man shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award -- where he missed out to Chelsea's Eden Hazard -- and has now seen him win the PFA fans' accolade.

More than 200,000 votes were cast since the 10-man shortlist was announced at the start of this month, with Sanchez, who was also included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year, beating Hazard and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero to the award.

Sanchez soon had another trophy to add to his cabinet after being announced as Player of the Year at the inaugural Facebook Football Awards.

More than 1 million votes were cast across the globe, with the Arsenal forward taking the award ahead of Hazard and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

Tottenham's Harry Kane was named Young Player of the Year at the Facebook Football Awards, while Arsene Wenger was voted best manager and Arsenal were chosen as best club in what was a north London-heavy vote.
