Mathieu Debuchy back from injury and wants to help Arsenal finish second

Mathieu Debuchy is eager to get back in the Arsenal team and help them finish the season as runners-up.

Debuchy, 29, has made just 10 Premier League appearances for the Gunners in an injury-ravaged campaign since joining from Newcastle United last summer.

He is now close to a first-team comeback, and featured -- along with fellow injury victim Jack Wilshere -- in a training ground friendly against Brentford on Tuesday.

Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin have deputised in the France international's absence, but he is confident he is now ready to play.

Debuchy said in the Daily Star: "It hasn't been easy for me to undergo two operations in the same season, but I am still positive.

"I'm no longer in pain, I went into challenges and I made tackles. I now need to regain my rhythm.

"It is going to be difficult for Arsenal to win the title, as Chelsea are doing very well, but it would be great if we can finish second."
