Thierry Henry coaching Arsenal's youngsters, says Arsene Wenger

Thierry Henry has been coaching Arsenal's youth players, manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

In December, Henry announced his retirement from playing football as he parted company with New York Red Bulls.

The former Arsenal striker, 37, has since begun working as a television pundit and he has now embarked on a coaching career.

Wenger said at his prematch news conference ahead of Saturday's game with Crystal Palace: "Thierry Henry is making his first steps as a coach.

"It's good for our youngsters to be coached by him. He's been here once or twice."

Henry scored 228 goals in 377 appearances for Arsenal, lifting the Premier League title twice and the FA Cup on three occasions.

Asked if the French World Cup winner could one day replace him as Arsenal manager, Wenger replied: "That would not be my problem, it would be a problem of the board to make that decision.

"Yes of course [he could be a future Arsenal manager]. I have said that many times, but I have had many, many players who can do this job."
