Lukas Podolski expresses his frustration at sitting on Arsenal bench

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has dropped another hint about his possible departure from the club in January, telling Express that he does not feel at home sitting on the substitutes' bench.

Last week, Podolski, 29, said that he would consider leaving the Gunners during the next transfer window should he still be struggling for game time.

Despite the ongoing injury crisis at the Emirates Stadium, the Germany international has still found it difficult to break into Arsenal's starting lineup.

Podolski -- who was selected by Joachim Low for his nation's upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers -- is under contract with the Gunners until 2016, but has suggested he will leave the club before then if he continues to be overlooked by Arsene Wenger.

"I don't like it on the bench," Podolski told Express. "I am not someone who sits out his contract."

Earlier this week, Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff advised Podolski to speak to Wenger about his Arsenal future.

"I would advise him to seek talks with the coach, and to find a solution which fits both sides," he said. "I hope that, should he make a switch, his path will lead him to a club that will give him continuity."
