Arsenal fans chant for strikers during a 1-1 draw with Leicester City

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger dismissed suggestions that recruiting more players is needed to improve his side's stuttering start to the Premier League season after a draw at newly-promoted Leicester City.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger responded to Gunners' fans who were urging him to sign a striker during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Leicester.

Arsenal fans could be heard at the King Power Stadium urging Wenger to splash the cash in the final hours of the transfer window.

Yet Wenger was adamant that he would not sign players just to keep supporters happy, as he stressed his urgency to add to his squad had not been heightened by the 1-1 draw with the newly promoted Foxes.

"The solution every time you don't win a game is to buy somebody," argued Wenger. "We are out there and we try our best, you have to trust us to buy the best possible solution, but as well every time you don't win a game think there's a miracle man.

"Why did Man City not win the game against Stoke? They have plenty of strikers. Football is a team sport and we have not got to sell it as an individual sport.

"I've worked long enough in England to know I don't like to promise what I'm not 100 percent sure of as it doesn't depend on me."

Wenger continued to be pressed on his hopes of signing an additional forward, but he admitted the finances he is working with may not be comparable to some of his rivals in the chase for top targets.

"Is the amount of money we spend unlimited," he pondered. "No, because that's not the way we manage the club. We always try to make the right decision and we have the resources if we think it's the right player.

"We can talk and talk and talk about signing someone or not. As long as the transfer market is open to make everybody dream by thinking the solution is always somewhere where it's not necessarily obvious."
