Ozil, Ramsey to miss Spurs clash

Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey will both miss the North London derby due to injury, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

Ozil was substituted at half-time of the 1-1 Champions League draw against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening with a hamstring injury.

While Ramsey, who suffered a thigh strain during Arsenal’s 3-1 win against West Ham in December, has had to postpone his expected return date, although Wenger insists the delay is only minor.

Of Ozil, the Arsenal boss said: “He is out. I don’t know for how long but it is a hamstring injury. There are scans going on.”

And Wenger said of Ramsey: “We have had to defer his comeback to full training a little so he is not available. He is having difficulties in the final stages of his rehab. It looks to be short-term.”

Ozil, who struggled to make an impact in Munich, took to his official Facebook page on Thursday to reveal that he picked up his injury in the opening stages of the Champions League clash.

He wrote: "Dear friends, now it's clear: during the Champions League match against FC Bayern I suffered a muscle injury in the second minute.

"I tried to give my best and played until the end of the first half. Rest assured that I'll be back even stronger!"

Jack Wilshere is already missing for the Gunners, but there is better news regarding Kim Kallstrom, a loan signing from Spartak Moscow who is yet to appear due to a back injury.

Kallstrom, alongside Yaya Sanogo, could be named in the squad to face Tottenham on Sunday.

Kieran Gibbs will have a fitness test on Friday before a decision is made regarding his inclusion, but Wenger is hopeful Nacho Monreal will be fit to play.
