Paulo Dybala forced to withdraw from Argentina squad through injury

Paulo Dybala has been withdrawn from the Argentina squad ahead their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia because of a muscular problem.

The same injury kept the 22-year-old out of Juventus' Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, while the striker was able to play 32 minutes of Saturday's match against Torino before the injury recurred.

"Dybala's withdrawal was not unexpected," Argentina head coach Gerardo Martino told reporters.

"Juventus were kind enough to allow him to fly down to Argentina, but he will not be ready for these two games.

"We will not call up a replacement for Dybala."

Argentina head into Thursday's match with Chile sitting sixth in the CONMEBOL table, with a disappointing five points from four games.

Martino, therefore, underlined how it was for the Albiceleste to get a maximum return from the next two matches.

"We want to get the full six points from these two games and climb up the table," Martino added.

"We have analysed how [Chile coach Juan Antonio] Pizzi's teams play and have based our team on that.

"There is not much to say about the injured players. We always have good replacements available with this team."
