Ignacio Ambriz named new coach at Club America

Former Mexico international Ignacio Ambriz was confirmed as Club America's new coach on Tuesday, replacing Uruguayan Gustavo Matosas at the storied Liga MX institution.

Ambriz declared himself "super-ready" for the challenge and vowed to win over fans, some of whom have questioned on social media whether he has the pedigree to manage the club.

"I didn't win the lottery, my work brought me here," said Ambriz in his introductory press conference on Tuesday. "I may not have won anything, but there's some reason I coached San Luis for two years and came close to completing two years in Queretaro."

The club has won two league titles since 2013, reached three of the last five Liga MX finals, lifted the CONCACAF Champions League trophy last month and is going through a mini-golden period at present.

Now with the Liga MX's Apertura 2015, CCL group stage and Club World Cup all coming up in the second half of the year, Ambriz is confident he can keep the success going.

"No one can take away the dream of being here and being able to become champion," said Ambriz, who was an assistant to Javier Aguirre at Osasuna and Atletico Madrid in Spain.

Ambriz added he wants his America team to be ordered, play with intensity, be balanced, keep possession of the ball and to attack rapidly.

Matosas exited the club having failed to agree a suitable transfer strategy with the club's board for the upcoming season.

Also Tuesday, America announced its transfer list, with Argentine duo Cristian Pellerano and Gonzalo Diaz heading up a group of 13 players.
