Manchester City's 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday was a lot of things. It started off as a rough-and-tumble tactical battle with both sides actively fouling to keep the other from getting into rhythm. It morphed into a game that seemed destined to be defined by a handful of contentious decisions by referee Michael Oliver. Then, finally, the last half-hour turned into a fractious up and down free for all with huge chances, stunning misses, a hugely entertaining mess that somehow ended with only two total goals being scored.
