Ivory Coast and Rwanda advance at African Nations Championship

Ivory Coast advanced to the knockout round of the African Nations Championship, crushing Gabon 4-1 in the teams' final Group A match on Sunday.

Essis Aka, Franck Guiza, Koffi Boua Davy Mahinde and Nilmar Ble all scored for the Ivorians in the rout, while Franck Obambou netted Gabon's consolation goal.

In the group's other game, hosts Rwanda advanced despite a heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of Morocco.

Abdelghani Mouaoui scored a brace for the North Africans, while Mohamed Aziz and Abdeladim Khadrouf rounded off the scoring.

Hegman Ngomirakiza scored the Rwandans only goal of the match.

Ivory Coast finished top of the group due to goal difference with six points, with Rwanda matching their total, followed by Morocco on four points and Gabon with one.
